ABCeDarian Easy Reader Series, Level A
about the ABCeDarian learn-to-read method
In the ABeCeDarian method, students are introduced to a few letter sounds at a time. For example, in Level A lessons 1-4, students are introduced to the consonants c, d, f, m, n, p, s, t, and the short vowels a, i, o. ABeCeDarian easy reader number 1, "Did the Cat Sit?", only uses words that contain these letter sounds. Easy readers 2-10 additionally use letter sounds as they are introduced in lessons 5-12.
The ABeCeDarian method recognizes that rapid recognition of high frequency words is extremely important to reading comprehension and introduces certain high frequency words with unusual spellings (the, to, of, off) early in the curriculum.
ABeCeDarian easy readers may be used with any learn-to-read curriculum, but are designed to augment the ABeCeDarian curriculum. To learn more about this curriculum, visit www.abcdrp.com.
about the easy reader series
The series is for emergent readers in grades K-1, and the stories are designed to be fun, engaging and interactive for this audience. Some of the stories, such as "Did the Cat Sit?" ask the reader questions like "Did the cat sit on the map?" Students must decode the text accurately to answer the question. Other stories cover topics relevant to young children, such as the anguish of losing a toy or the frustration of not being able to do the things an older sibling can.
